Mirage & Masterpiece: High-Fashion Bridal in the Heart of the High Desert
Hello, lovers. I am so ecstatic to share a glimpse of what we do around here. Paper Cliché is a full service design studio specializing in modern, romantic semi-custom wedding stationery. Think: understated elegance, organic minimalism, and high touch service.
Flashback to early last summer. I love the collaboration of a styled shoot and the creative freedom because I feel like some of my most inspired work comes from that combination. But that being said, they are a major time suck at even the smallest level so I have to be careful and selective about what to say yes to. I had just vowed to swear off editorials for 2025 and just a few hours later, Sofia’s email comes through. It took me no more than two seconds to decide to break my vow and sign on. This was not so much a boundary issue (per say), but more of a ‘I have to be a part of this project no matter what’ issue.
Set against the quiet stillness of the California desert, this styled editorial for Mia Atelier was a study in organic minimalism - where raw texture, sculptural form, and minimal details came together in harmony. The Folly Mojave, surrounded by golden brush and wide open sky, is a dreamscape in every sense of the word, and every element of this day felt intentional and deeply connected to the landscape. It was an aspiration to create alongside SF Design Inc, and the talented Chelsea Gee captured the art of it all with poetic mastery.
The invite suite featured was layered and textural, emphasizing an organic minimalism and an unconventional, modern layout. The response card was printed on handmade paper, paired with a vellum details card. Together they created a layered, airy composition full of depth and dimension. A sculptural belly band wrapped the suite, adding a cohesive finishing touch and elevating the overall tactile experience.
These custom lime-washed pillars were a striking study in dimension with subtle tonal variation and a softly textured finish. Thoughtful negative space allowed the design to breathe, proving that pared-down minimalism can still make a bold statement.
These handmade paper menus embraced an understated, tactile elegance. Printed on softly textured paper with delicate deckled edges, the minimalist layout created a quiet, modern presence at each place setting. The wind was ever present, so the place settings were held down by their rocky surroundings.
For couples drawn to organic wedding design, modern desert venues, and refined, layered details, this shoot is a reminder that minimalism doesn’t mean less.
